North East Energy Consortium submit ETI bid

The North East Energy Consortium has today submitted its proposal to host the Energy Technology Institute (ETI) - a national hub for energy and environmental research and development - to be established later this year.

The ETI will be a public / private partnership, uniting some of the world's biggest companies, and will responsible for the allocation of approximately £1bn of investment funds over the next ten years, towards research and development into new and renewable sources of energy.

The North East Consortium would like to publicly thank all those who have contributed to the bid and look forward to your continued support.

An event to showcase the ETI bid, and to raise further awareness of the region's strengths in the energy sector has been arranged for Tuesday 14 th August.

A final decision on the selection of the ETI host is expected to be announced by Government in early October.
